Is there any government running in Telangana?

It appears the government in Telangana state is completely in limbo. At a time when chief ministers and ministers in other states are busy reviewing the developmental programmes and officials are engaged administrative works, there is no such a scene in the state.

It has been a week since Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao left the state for Uttar Pradesh to pay homage to Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and from there to New Delhi.

Nobody, including the party leaders are aware what he is doing. His daughter K Kavitha and a few other leaders is with him in Delhi, giving the impression that he is busy chalking out the strategy for his national party – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

The latest information from Delhi is that KCR is suffering from fever and is undergoing treatment there. So, the chances of him returning to Telangana in the immediate future are bleak.

Nobody knows whether the CMO is functioning or not, as no meetings are being held. Since there are some important decisions to be taken on Kaleshwaram project, chief secretary, special CS and a few other officials left for Delhi to meet KCR to discuss the crucial issues.

On the other hand, majority of KCR’s cabinet colleagues are camping in Munugode, taking care of distributing money and other freebies among the voters and campaign for TRS candidate K Prabhakar Reddy.

KCR’s K T Rama Rao, considered to be de facto CM, is also busy attending programmes in Munugode and holding teleconferences with the party leaders. So, for all practical purposes, there is virtually no governance in Telangana.

A senior journalist, in his blog, pointed out how an administrator should be. At a time when the state of Telangana is looking like an orphan, Odisha chief minister and Biju Janata Dal leader Naveen Patnaik quietly came to Hyderabad, stayed here for two days and addressed an investors’ summit.

Needless to say, there was a huge response from investors to his meeting and he went back on Monday with a good number of projects to Odisha.

Well, that has been the secret of Naveen’s success as the chief minister for the last five terms. The people are electing him again and again, though he doesn’t spend money bags to lure them as KCR does, but believes in the work he does!
