Former MP and senior TDP leader from Guntur, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, is said to be looking at the ruling YSR Congress these days.
The rumour mills are active spreading the news that Rayapati is getting ready to knock at the YSR Congress door soon.
He is upset with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu appointing former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana as inchrage of Sttenapalli Assembly constituency in Palnadu district recently.
Kanna is a known political rival to Rayapati family for decades. Though the two leaders were in the Congress initially, they lead separate groups in the Guntur district politics.
While Rayapati joined the TDP from the Congress, Kanna went to the BJP and finally joined the TDP a few months ago.
Ever since Kanna was appointed as the inchrage of Sattenapalli, Rayapati became inactive in TDP and said to be angry with Naidu.
Rayapati had been asking for the TDP ticket to his son Ranga Babu and is upset with Naidu’s decision.
Rayapati is also angry with Naidu for not promising ticket to his brother’s daughter Rayapati Sailaja.
With unrest, Rayapati is said to have held talks with his one-time supporter and YSR Congress Guntur district unit president Dokka Manikya Varaprasada Rao.
Dokka had been a staunch loyalist and supporter of Rayapati for decades and had joined the TDP on his advice in the past.
However, after the TDP’s defeat Dokka had joined the ruling YSR Congress. They both share healthy relations though in rival parties.
It is now to be seen if Dokka would help his mentor to join the YSR Congress and contest from anywhere in Guntur and Palnadu districts!
