Popular South Indian actor and political activist Prakash Raj, who doesn’t let go any opportunity to make mincemeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Narendra Modi government at the Centre, reacted strongly to the reports of alleged attempts to poach the Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLAs into the BJP.
“Are they selling political safety condoms?” Prakash Raj tweeted on Saturday with the hashtag #justasking, about the latest reports of some BJP mediators making an attempt to lure four TRS legislators into the BJP.
The actor, who has been moving closely with the TRS leadership in the recent past, lashed out at the BJP for adopting dubious practices in Telangana to destabilise the K Chandrasekhar Rao government.
“It has become a practice for the BJP to destabilise the governments in various states by luring the ruling party MLAs with money power. It has adopted such dirty practices in other states in the past and now, it is doing the same in Telangana,” he said.
Describing the BJP leaders as robbers, Prakash Raj said what they were doing in Telangana was nothing new for them.
“The BJP usurped power in Karnataka, Maharashtra and other places by poaching the MLAs of the ruling party,” he said.
He said people should be wary of such practices.
“It is not just the BJP or its leader Narendra Modi. Whoever does it in any state, the people and the media should expose them. This is my opinion,” he said.
Stating that the ruling party should be stronger than ever at this crucial juncture, Prakash Raj said Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is a strong leader and would not succumb to such pressure tactics.
“I feel very happy when I look at the Telangana government. I admire the thinking of chief minister KCR and minister KTR. They, too, give him a lot of respect. And I am confident the people of Telangana will stand by KCR at all times,” the actor said.
