In The Age of Communication, TDP Blacklists Channels

The beleaguered TDP has once again issued an internal circular asking its leaders not to entertain some news channels. They included some satellite TV channels and some web channels.

The TDP central office from Mangalagiri had issued the circular to all its leaders asking them to keep off from Sakshi and TV9 from the satellite TV channels category and IDream and Prime9 from the web channel category.

Sakshi is banned or blacklisted by the TDP several years ago. The TDP does not allow Sakshi journalists to enter its offices anywhere.

The irony is that the TDP, while in power, did not even allow Sakshi journalists to attend the official press conferences of then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. That was the hatred the TDP has towards Sakshi. Readmore!

Now, while being out of power and struggling hard to make a comeback in the 2024 general elections, the TDP had taken the extreme step of even blacklisting the TV9 channel. While it will be bitter pill for many of the TDP leaders to skip TV9, one wonders what prompted the party to blacklist the popular channel!

The social media had found new ways of communication and the web channels are the latest addition. Among them, IDream and Prime9 are doing well these days.

It is understood if the TDP blacklists IDream web channel, which is owned by a person who is the digital media advisor for the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. But the question is what prompted the TDP to blacklist Prime9, another popular web channel!

Ironically, the TDP had lost its base from among several castes and now loses its presence among the media houses. Though not a healthy trend in the age of social media, it is to be seen how the TDP would be able to reach out to the people by skipping some satellite channels and some web channels, whose presence can’t be ignored!
