The talk of political strategist Prashant Kishor aka PK joining the Congress party has been going on in the national political circles for quite some time, though nothing has materialized so far.
But with PK meeting Congress bigwigs – Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Saturday, the talk has come to the fore once again.
It was officially confirmed that the Congress high command has asked the election strategist to join the party and not work as a consultant.
Sources said if PK agrees to the offer, the Congress high command might offer him a key position in the party as a political advisor on the lines of late Ahmed Patel.
He has already given a detailed presentation for the 2024 elections and Sonia Gandhi has formed a committee to look at his suggestions and ideas and how to take them forward.
Now, the question is what will Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would do, if PK officially joins the Congress party and holds an important portfolio.
KCR has openly admitted that PK has been engaged to help Telangana Rashtra Samithi in general and him in particular in his own ambition to grow in the national politics.
At the same time, PK has been helping Jagan to provide him a comprehensive response from the people on his governance and various other issues.
The strategist would also help in obtaining the feedback on the performance of his YSR Congress party MLAs.
So, if Prashant Kishor joins the Congress, it would be difficult for him to help KCR or Jagan, as he would be working for cross purposes.
At least for KCR, he would not be able to give advices to help the TRS at the cost of the Congress. Since PK will work on the overall strategy of securing over 370 seats for the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, he cannot help the TRS defeat Congress in the Lok Sabha polls in Telangana.
In Andhra Pradesh, however, PK joining the Congress might not come in the way of helping Jagan, as the Congress doesn’t have much scope to win any seats in the state.
The only trouble comes if the YSRC joins hands with the BJP and works against the Congress elsewhere in the country. In that event, PK might not work with Jagan.
