Telugu Desam Party, which has been completely beleaguered following its humiliating defeat in the recent assembly and Lok Sabha elections, landed in the most embarrassing situation in the wake of the reports that party MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani rejecting the party whip post in Lok Sabha.
The party is more worried about the reports that Nani would be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party as he had already been in touch with senior party leaders in Delhi.
In fact, at a time when the TDP leaders were celebrating NTR’s birth anniversary on May 28, Nani went to Nagpur to meet Union minister Nitin Gadkari to take his blessings.
He also posted his photographs with Gadkari along with his comments in the social media, saying the Union minister was his favourite politician, who had given him 100% support to him in the development of Vijayawada in the last five years.
“Gadkari assured me that his support for the development of Vijayawada will continue in the future as well,” the MP said.
Nani, however, sought to play down the reports that he was joining the BJP. He said there was no truth in the reports.
“I can only say one thing to those who were spreading these rumours. If Chandrababu Naidu will join the YSR Congress party, I will join the BJP. It is as good as that,” he said.
But, still, the speculations did not die down. BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana said the party would work out on the defections from the TDP. “May be, Nani is in touch with the top BJP leaders in Delhi,” he said.
