I-PAC survey lands several YSRC MLAs in trouble

A latest survey conducted by the Indian Political Action Committee on the performance of the ruling YSR Congress party MLAs has landed many of them in deep trouble, as party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy made it clear that non-serious MLAs won’t get tickets in the next elections.

Jagan held a workshop with the party MLAs on Monday to review the “Gadapa gadapa ku prabhutvam” programme and disclosed the survey results, much to the embarrassment and shocking of the MLAs, as they were not aware such a survey was being done by the I-PAC.

Jagan disclosed that as many as 22 YSRC MLAs had taken part in the Gadapa gadapaku…” programme for less than 10 days. They include two senior ministers – Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Botsa Satyanarayana.

Another 15 MLAs participated in the programme for less than five days. Many other MLAs had a non-serious participation in the programme. Two senior MLAs – Alla Nani and Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy did not take part in the Gadapa gadapaku.. programme even for a single day so far. Readmore!

Expressing anger at these ‘non-performing’ MLAs, Jagan told them categorically that he was doing his best to bring the party back to power in the next elections and all the other MLAs, too, have no option but to struggle hard.

“If you want to become the MLAs again, you have to be serious and work hard. Otherwise, I don’t have any problem. They won’t get the party tickets in the next elections and I will have to look for new faces in your constituencies,” he said.

He made it clear that he was not bothered if the survey has hurt any MLA.

“Whether you like it or not, I will not hesitate to drop the non-performing MLAs and give tickets to the new faces. There is still time for you to improve your performance,” the chief minister said.

Jagan claimed that the survey had clearly indicated that 87 percent of the families were getting the benefits of the state government’s welfare schemes and the party has to come back to power to provide saturation to the beneficiaries.

The chief minister announced release of Rs 25 lakh to each village secretariat and Rs 2 crore to each MLA under constituency development fund from the chief minister’s development fund.

He asked the MLAs to visit at least seven village secretariats in the next one month. Each of them should take part in the Gadapa gadapaku.. programme for a minimum of 16 days and maximum of 21 days in the next one month. There will be an observer for each assembly constituency to oversee the implementation of the scheme, he said.
