Huzurabad: What's Wrong with the EC's Decision?

“How can the Election Commission ban me from holding a public meeting? It is a democratic right in an election process,” thundered KCR at his Party’s plenary.

He also expressed anger at being ordered to stop implementation of the Dalit Bandu scheme in Huzurabad until November 4.

The Chief Minister’s anger is not making sense. KCR was ordered not to hold a public meeting by the EC because of covid norms.

The danger isn’t fully over yet and the EC is right to prevent public gatherings to the extent possible.  Readmore!

Besides, he imposed a ban on public meetings at Dharna Chowk? Of course, KCR had no problem in using Dharna Chowk for his own activities and protests prior to becoming the Chief Minister.

As for the Dalit Bandu scheme, what is the harm if the EC calls for the scheme be put in abeyance until the election is over?

The government can happily continue the scheme after that unless of course, KCR intends the scheme to influence the voters there.

Therefore, KCR lecturing the EC at his Party’s plenary was more an act of macho-showmanship than anything else.
