New details are emerging daily regarding the property dispute between Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his sister Sharmila.
It is known that during his lifetime, YSR had expressed that his properties should be equally divided among his children, leading Sharmila to expect a share.
After Jagan came to power, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the names of Vijayamma and Sharmila.
However, as per information from reliable sources, the property negotiations four years ago took a surprising turn.
Sharmila demanded that there was no need for any formal MoU; instead, she asked Jagan to tear up the existing agreements and provide her share in cash.
She reportedly demanded a total of Rs. 2,000 crore as her share. Jagan refused, which angered Sharmila.
Sharmila claimed that she was being deceived under the pretense of asset attachment. YS Vijayamma also backed Sharmila’s demand for Rs. 2,000 crore. This created a rift, with Vijayamma and Sharmila on one side and Jagan on the other.
The ongoing dispute eventually drove a wedge between Jagan and his younger sister, impacting Sharmila’s political path.
When Jagan didn’t meet her demands, Sharmila reportedly decided to challenge him politically.
Family members say that if the Rs. 2,000 crore had been provided, Sharmila might not have pursued a political path in opposition to her brother. In the end, this property issue has tarnished the image YSR family.
