The Supreme Court on Monday found fault with Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for trying to influence judges by directly sending video and audio clippings pertaining to alleged attempt to poach four BRS MLAs into the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Stating that the method adopted by KCR was improper, a Supreme Court bench headed by BR Gawai questioned how the chief minister of a state could send the audios and videos to Supreme Court judges directly.
Senior advocate Dushyant Dave, who argued on behalf of the Telangana government, expressed regrets over the chief minister's decision. He said he would apologise for the inconvenience caused to the judges.
The counsel for the BJP accused KCR of leaking vital evidences to the media and all other sections concerned. Justice Gawai said the chief minister had sent evidences even to the judges.
On November 3, KCR held a press conference and made public the evidence in the sensational MLAs' poaching case and appealed to the Chief Justice of India to protect democracy in the country.
The Chief Minister presented video and audio evidence to expose the alleged BJP 'conspiracy' to buy TRS MLAs by offering Rs 100 crore.
KCR said the entire evidence including the conversation the 'brokers' had with the MLAs has been sent to the Telangana High Court.
He revealed that the evidence has also been sent to the Chief Justice of India, all Supreme Court judges, chief justices of all high courts, agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the media.
Stating that democracy is under threat in the country, KCR appealed to the judiciary to protect it.
