There are certain assembly constituencies in Telangana, where the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi is really invincible – like Gajwel represented by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Siricilla by his son K T Rama Rao and Siddipet, represented by his nephew T Harish Rao.
One cannot think of the opposition parties putting up any candidates against these three leaders in these constituencies, because they are aware it is very difficult to defeat the trio.
However, according to journalist-cum-political activist Teenmaar Mallanna, it is not so difficult to defeat KTR in Siricilla, though he has been strongly entrenched in the constituency and has won the seat four times since 2009.
Speaking in his own YouTube channel, Mallanna said if the Congress party can field a woman candidate against KTR in Siricilla, she can easily defeat him. She is none other than firebrand leader Konda Surekha.
His reasoning is that there are more than 90,000 Padmasali (weavers’ community) voters in Siricilla, followed by another 30,000 Munnuru Kapu votes. While Konda Surekha belongs to Padmasali community, her husband Konda Murali belongs to Munnuru Kapu community.
“These equations easily work out in Siricilla, if Surekha is fielded from there and she can capture majority of these votes of these two communities, besides that of other BC, SC and ST communities,” Mallanna said.
He said there were only 900 Velama votes belonging to 123 families in Siricilla and they would not help KTR to win the seat.
“So, the Congress should drop the plan to field its regular candidate K K Mahender Reddy and promise him an MLC seat later. In his place, it should field Surekha,” he said.
Mallanna said it would also help shifting of Reddy votes to Surekha and she can easily break the bastion of BRS in Siricilla defeating KTR.
