Ending suspense over the fate of Andhra Pradesh industries and information technology minister Gudivada Amarnath, YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday appointed him as the in-charge of Gajuwaka assembly constituency.
The fate of Amarnath has been hanging in balance, ever since Jagan appointed Malasala Amarnath as the party coordinator (read: candidate) for Anakapalle assembly seat presently represented by the minister.
There were several reports that Jagan would send Amarnath to Pendurty, Yelamanchili or Chodavaram, but it did not happen. Amarnath’s name was tipped even for Anakapalle Lok Sabha constituency, but it was also rejected by Jagan.
Finally, on Tuesday, Jagan chose to nominate Amarnath as the in-charge of Gajuwaka, thereby confirming his seat.
Accordingly, sitting MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy, who defeated Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan in the last elections, will be denied the ticket.
In fact, Nagi Reddy was removed as the party in-charge of Gajuwaka in December itself and in his place, Jagan picked up Vurukuti Ramchander Rao alias Chandu for the seat.
Even as Chandu is making preparations for the contest, Amarnath has entered the scene now.
Similarly, Jagan has announced the name of Kavati Manohar Naidu for Chilakaluripet seat, in place of existing party in-charge coordinator Mallela Rajesh Naidu, who made strong allegations against sitting MLA and minister Vidadala Rajini, who has already been shifted to Guntur (west) constituency.
Meanwhile, Jagan also appointed Satyanarayanamma as the mayor of Kurnool municipal corporation, in place of B Y Ramaiah, who has been named as the party candidate for Kurnool MP seat.
