Galla Aruna Says She Will Continue In TDP

Former minister and senior TDP leader Galla Aruna, who created a sensation of sorts by resigning from the party’s politburo on Thursday, made it clear that she would not quit the TDP.

“I have resigned from the TDP politburo only on personal grounds. A politburo leader is expected to be extensively tour the state to galvanise the cadres so as to infuse confidence in them. Since I cannot take up the task because of my old age, I decided to quit the politburo,” Aruna said in a statement.

She, however, asserted that she would continue in the TDP.

“Changing parties is against our culture. I had to quit the Congress and join the TDP in the past only because the Congress had virtually disappeared in the state. I will sail with the TDP as long as I can. I will not go anywhere,” Aruna said. Readmore!

The former minister said she had explained everything to party president N Chandrababu Naidu so that he could find a better and stronger replacement for her in the politburo.

There is a talk that Naidu might replace Aruna with his brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna, senior actor and MLA from Hindupur. This is expected to give a new impetus for the TDP in the coming days, party sources said.
