Not long ago, revolutionary singer Gaddar had campaigned for outlawed Maoists calling upon the people to boycott the elections, which he used to say, had become a farcical exercise.
Now, the same singer has undergone a complete transformation. Last year, he announced that he had severed all his connections with Maoist party .and joined the political mainstream. Not only that, he registered himself as a voter in his Toopran village.
While his son Surya joined the Congress party early this year, Gaddar also expressed his desire to contest the assembly elections from Gajwel assembly constituency, if all the parties support him. Though it did not happen, he announced that he would campaign for Maha Kootami candidates.
On Friday, Gaddar will appear on the stage at the Congress party’s public meeting at Medchal on the city outskirts, where former AICC president UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will address a massive gathering.
According to Telangana PCC president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Gaddar will perform and sing along with 100 artistes on the stage, appealing to the voters to vote for the Maha Kootami.
Though Gaddar has been campaigning for the Maha Kootami candidates here and there, it will be the first time that he would be performing in Sonia Gandhi’s rally.
It is really a climb down for Gaddar from a hard core revolutionary to an ordinary political activist, working for a party which was responsible for killing of thousands of youth in the last five decades!
