Former MP and Congress leader G V Harsha Kumar has endorsed the concern of the family members of Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu over the latter’s health conditions in Rajahmundry central jail.
On Friday, Harsha Kumar said the Sneha barrack where Naidu was lodged was not safe in terms of health.
“During the Chandrababu Naidu regime, I was also lodged in the same barrack for 18 days and again during the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime for 48 days. Even former minister and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham was also in the same barrack,” he said.
He said sun rays would directly fall into the barrack till 10 am and in the evening, too, there would be extreme heat from the western side.
“Persons who are habituated to air-conditioned atmosphere cannot tolerate such an extreme heat,” he said.
The former MP said if Naidu really got skin infections, it would be very dangerous and he should be shifted to the government hospital and kept in a VIP room with AC facility.
“Secondly, water is supplied to the Sneha block from the prison tank for bathing. It should be sent to laboratory test immediately, as I suspect some chemical is being mixed in it. If I am wrong, let the prison authorities give me notice, but only after testing the water,” he said.
Harsha Kumar recalled that when he was lodged in the same block during the Jagan regime, he had suffered severe stomach pain.
“I was sent to the government hospital only after several hours, where the doctors conducted tests and came to the conclusion that I had severe infection,” he said.
It was only after the Visakhapatnam doctors confirmed the infection, he had been allowed to continue in the ICU for three days.
“They did not allow me to g to normal ward later, but was sent directly to jail from the ICU. Jagan has such a cruel mentality,” the former MP alleged.
