Film stars can't bring power to Kapus

In an apparent snub to Jana Sena Party chief and Tollywood power star Pawan Kalyan, retired IAS officer and former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary P Ramamohan Rao said film stars and businessmen cannot politics and they cannot expect to bring Kapu community to political power.

“Real leader should emerge from common people among the Kapu community. Till then, one cannot expect the Kapus to come to power and rule the state,” Rammohan Rao said while addressing the Kapu employees’ welfare association meeting on Saturday after inaugurating the diary.

He further said the development of Kapus had nothing to do with capturing power.

“It is wrong to assume that Kapu community will develop only if it gets political power. Because of this wrong direction, the Kapu caste people are lagging behind in all the fields,” he said. Readmore!

The ex-IAS officer said Kapus should not give up their originality and crave for mercy of others.

“In the last 30 years, Kapus did not achieve what they deserved in politics. First of all, we have to strive for becoming strong financially, industrially, commercially and in various other fields. It is possible only if they excel in education. We shall take pride of our caste, while respecting the other communities,” he said.

He regretted that castes which do not have constitute five to six percent of the population are able to dominate all fields because they are able to pamper other castes.

“We are nearly 27 percent of the total population. Yet, we are lagging behind, because we are not able to take others along with us,” he said.

Rammohan Rao reminded that he had told former minister Mudragada that Kapus should not fight for reservations under BC quota.

“As a result, we have become pawns in the hands of other upper castes. They are trying to hoodwink us by allotting us 5 percent quota,” he said.

Rammohan Rao who was the chief secretary during the Jayalalithaa period, joined Jana Sena Party after his retirement in 2019.

He was appointed political advisor to Pawan Kalyan, but later distanced himself away from the party after its debacle in the elections.
