Fearing contempt of court, Naidu drops Tirumala plan!

Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been granted conditional bail by the state high court only on health grounds.

So, the purpose of Naidu getting the bail is to get treatment for his eye and other ailments, but not to do any other activity.

The court clearly mentioned that he should not make public appearances, address political rallies and speak to the media.

When he travelled from Rajahmundry central jail to his Undavalli residence all through the night, the TDP leaders mobilised huge crowds all along the route. The party workers thronged every town enroute giving him a heroic welcome, as if he has won a war. Readmore!

As he reached home in the early hours of Wednesday, hundreds of party workers gathered there to meet him and wished him.

As per the original plan, Naidu was supposed to fly down to Tirupati on Wednesday evening, have a night halt at Tirumala and have a darshan of Lord Venkateshwara in the early hours of Thursday, before going to Hyderabad for admission in L V Prasad Eye hospital for treatment.

However, his lawyers reportedly cautioned him that all these attempts would amount to contempt of court, as he is not supposed to make public appearances and his bail is meant only for getting treatment and taking rest.

“Under any circumstances, Naidu should not give an impression that he is perfectly alright and he is jumping the bail. The CID lawyers are already planning to move the court against him for violating the court directions. So, he should be careful,” the lawyers said.

That is perhaps the reason why the TDP chief dropped his plan to go to Tirumala. After taking rest for some time at his Undavalli residence, he will be flying to Hyderabad directly by evening to join the hospital for treatment, party sources said.
