Fact Sheet: Survey Dashes Naidu Hopes

Telugu Desam Party headed by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been making all out efforts to come to power in the next assembly elections in the state.

He is of the view that there is a strong anti-incumbency against the government and that it will only increase in the coming days and that it will immensely benefit the TDP.

A survey commissioned by him through his political strategist has also reportedly revealed that the TDP would get at least 95-100 assembly seats out of 175 if elections to the state assembly are held now and the number might go up if the party puts in a little more hard work.

But a latest survey conducted by a national television channel has virtually dashed the hopes of Naidu. Readmore!

Though the channel conducted the survey only in parliamentary constituencies across the country, including in Andhra Pradesh, it clearly reflected the mood of the people in the state.

According to this survey,  the ruling YSR Congress party led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will win 19 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state, if the general elections are held now. The TDP will be able to win only six LS seats. The BJP will expectedly draw a blank.

On an average, each parliamentary constituency has seven assembly segments. Going by this calculation, the YSRC will get 133 assembly seats, while the TDP will get only 42 assembly seats.

If the survey is correct, it is definitely a big disappointment for Naidu and his hopes of returning to power are totally shattered. So, the talk of a strong anti-incumbency growing in the state is just rubbish.

The only solace for Naidu is that the TDP tally will be nearly doubled. The only disappointment for YSRC is that it won't be able to win 175 out of 175 seats!
