Generally, it is believed that two major Telugu dailies -- Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy – follow the same line in reporting political news.
Though there is a degree of difference between the two in terms of presentation of political news, the content will be more or less same.
But with regard to senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and sacked health minister Eatala Rajender’s future plans if he resigns from the TRS, both the dailies have adopted different stands.
Till Thursday, both Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy, like all the other media, have reported that Rajender had held a series of meetings with the BJP leaders, which was openly admitted by him as well as the BJP.
Eenadu went a step ahead and declared that stage is set for Rajender’s entry into the BJP and he would be flying to New Delhi in two or three days to meet BJP national president J P Nadda to join the party.
On Friday, it even fixed May 31 as the date of Rajender’s entry into the BJP.
It even said the Huzurabad MLA spurned the offer of ex-MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and Telangana Jana Samithi leader Prof M Kodandaram to float a new regional party, as he had already made up his mind to join the BJP.
But Andhra Jyothy took a completely different stand on Friday. Till the other day, it had been publishing reports that Rajender was getting ready to join the BJP and that he would quit the TRS and the assembly membership on June 2.
Now, Andhra Jyothy is saying that Rajender is not interested in joining the BJP, as he might lose his identity in the saffron party. He is yet to make up his mind on whether to remain an independent or float a new party.
Both the newspapers claim to have strong sources that gave the information about Rajender’s plans. Let us see which of these two dailies will prove right in the coming days.
