EC issues notice to Naidu for abusing Jagan

The Election Commission of India on Thursday issued a notice to Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for using derogatory remarks against YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The notice was issued following a complaint lodged by Lella Appi Reddy, state general secretary of the YSRCP, who alleged that Naidu’s offensive language against Jagan amounted to violating the Model Code of Conduct during his campaign speeches on March 31.

Naidu, during his campaign rallies held in Yemmiganur, Markapuram, and Bapatla constituencies reportedly used derogatory language, referring to Naidu as a Monster, Animal, Thief and various other insulting and offensive terms.

The Election Commission has reviewed the speeches in question, which were provided in a pendrive, and has determined that they prima facie violate provisions of the Model Code of Conduct. Readmore!

Chief Electoral Officer M K Meena asked Naidu to give an explanation within 48 hours regarding the derogatory remarks made against the chief minister.
