The sudden dissolution of the Telangana state assembly paving way for early elections to the state assembly at least five months ahead of the schedule will deprive lakhs of people of their legitimate right to exercise their franchise.
Telangana Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy, who gave a presentation to the EC authorities last week, pointed out that there were more than 30 lakh bogus voters in the latest revised voters’ list and only two weeks’ time has been given for the rectification, besides enrolment of new voters.
“The last date for raising of objections is September 25. And the final voters’ list will be published on October 8. The original schedule for revision of voters’ list and enrolment of fresh voters was January first week.
But for the sake of early elections in Telangana, the Centre has advanced this schedule for revising the voters’ list. This will prevent lakhs of new voters from enrolling their names,” the Congress leader said.
PCC chief Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy, too, alleged that it was the joint conspiracy hatched by Prime Minister Narender Modi and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
He said deletion of 20-30 lakh names from the electoral rolls was not incidental, but a deliberate move as part of a larger conspiracy.
He alleged that Modi-KCR duo also tried to connive with Election Commission of India to implement their conspiracy.
However, he said that the Congress party would not allow this conspiracy to work and would fight until each and every eligible citizen gets enrolled in the voters' list.
He demanded that elections for Telangana Assembly be held only after carrying out all corrections in the electoral rolls.
