Disney+ Hotstar and Graphic India are great partners: Rajamouli

Animated series Baahubali: Crown of Blood, a prequel to SS Rajamouli's blockbuster movie franchise Baahubali, is scheduled for release on Disney+Hotstar on the 17th of this month.

Created by Rajamouli, along with Sharad Devarajan, the show is expected to give a great experience to the audience of all age groups. The series is directed and produced by Jeevan J. Kang and Navin John.

Rajamouli believes that Baahubali: Crown Of Blood will make the Indian audience get used to the animation arena.

“If a film does well, it finishes with that. But we didn’t want to do that. We wanted to continue but we didn’t know how to do it. We tried many ways. We tried to create games, VR films, and create a series. In the process, we realized that the most important thing is to associate with the right people. I’m not an expert in animation and gaming. It took us some time to find the right people. Sharad came in and he shared his vision of making an animation series. Readmore!

In India, the animation doesn’t go beyond children’s cartoons. Sharad had a vision of bringing animation like in the West and also in Japan. Hotstar also shared the same vision. It was a very difficult decision for me to break myself from Baahubali, and give it to Sharad and say, please take it forward.”

The ace filmmaker expressed his happiness for association with the production and OTT platforms. “Disney+ Hotstar and Graphic India are great partners. I’m pleased to associate with them.”

Rajamouli also assures that the animation series will also have high moments. “I can’t reveal much now. But bringing Baahubali and Kattappa face to face each other in an arena is a brilliant thought.”

Rajamouli also clarified that Baahubali: Crown of Blood is not exactly a prequel. “It fits exactly in the middle of the story you already know. We talked about the possibility of expanding this story and came up with Baahubali: Crown of Blood.”

The makers have screened two episodes of the series to the media who appreciated the team for the content, and the quality of the animation work.
