Reflecting on the film’s failure, Karuna Kumar recently shared insights into what went wrong. He admitted he had anticipated the film might flop even while it was in production.

“The movie Palasa I made managed to hold its ground in theaters. Then, the pandemic hit, and I found myself in a tough financial position, uncertain about my future. In that situation, I took on Sridevi Soda Center with complete sincerity,” he shared.

“But soon after starting, I realized there were too many people involved in making changes to the script. If I’d known this from day one, I wouldn’t have gone ahead with the film.” Readmore!

“What ended up on screen wasn’t the script I originally wrote. The main concept remained, but almost everything else was altered,” he said.

While the film received some critical acclaim, Karuna believes it could have been much better if he had retained creative control.

His latest project, Matka, was a different experience. “With Matka, there was no interference. I made it exactly as I envisioned, and everyone was supportive.”
