Covid 19 has taken its toll across the world since February 2020. India was hit by the pandemic in March 2020.
Since then, there have been several deaths across the country. It had brought lockdown from the north to south and east to west in the country.
Lakhs of people, most of them migrant labourers, were left on the streets as the rulers and the rich remained indoors.
The economy had suffered heavily, not just in India, but everywhere.
The dreadful disease had taken its toll on everyone. The latest, one to mention, was the family of retired IAS officer, S V Prasad.
A 1975 batch IAS officer, S V Prasad, was the chief secretary of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
He also severed chief ministers like N Janardhan Reddy, Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu.
As chief secretary he served chief ministers K Rosaiah and N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
He headed several departments all through his service and was known as non-controversial and committed officer, with a vision.
He was hit by the Covid 19 and was hospitalised. His wife Lakshmi too was reported Covid 19 positive. Sadly, his children too were reported positive and were in various hospitals.
Death came for Prasad first on Tuesday morning. Shockingly, the virus also took the life of his wife Lakshmi, hours after Prasad’s death.
A senior bureaucrat, who commanded respect from his colleagues, not just because of his seniority, but because of his wide knowledge, commitment and dedication to the job assigned to him.
Even politicians respected him for his non-controversial approach towards the powers.
The family is now in the grip of the dreadful disease, its members battling for life.
Will any government save them? Be it the Central government or the Telangana state or the AP!
