The Congress party MPs have voted for the TDP in the election of members for the Public Accounts Committee, an important standing committee of Parliament constituted to scrutinise the accounts of the central government departments.

TDP’s Rajya Sabha member C M Ramesh, who has been raising his voice against the Narendra Modi government in the House, got elected as the PAC member. Readmore!

He got 106 votes, as against 69 votes secured by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Bhupendra Yadav.

While the Congress party wholeheartedly supported the TDP, it is learnt Ramesh also managed to get votes from the MPs belonging to the CPI, CPI (M) and even AIADMK, though they are against the TDP in public.

Known for his lobbying skills, Ramesh has attracted the attention of the opposition parties for his strong protests in the House. Besides his 11-day fast for Kadapa Steel Plant has also won him several supporters.

It remains to be seen how far this Congress-TDP dosti will continue.
