Conflicting Reports On Andhra Capital Shift!

The uncertainty over the shifting of administrative capital of Andhra Pradesh from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam is creating a confusion of sorts among the employees of the state government.

According to a AP non-gazetted employees’ association leader, there has been information whatsoever with regard to the shifting of administrative capital to Visakhapatnam, even as the academic year is coming to a close.

“So far, there have been no discussions between the state government and the employees. If the administrative capital cannot be shifted in May, the employees will have to face extreme difficulties,” the association leader said.

The latest statement of minister for municipal administration Botsa Satyanarayana that the formation of three capitals would be a reality soon and the government was getting ready for the same has created all the more confusion. Readmore!

Adding to this confusion, the state high court bench headed by chief justice A K Goswami said it would take up hearing on all the petitions of Amaravati farmers from May 3. And Botsa said the government would convince the court and get the capital shifted.

If the government has to wait for the court verdict, it would take another three or four months. But if Jagan wants to shift his camp office to Visakhapatnam, there might not be any legal hurdle, but that does not mean the three capitals’ plan would be a reality.

Another major hurdle before the government is the formation of judicial capital, which is entirely in the hands of the Centre. It is unlikely that the Central government will take a decision in the near future.
