Communist-turned-TRS MLA Nomula is dead!

Erstwhile hardcore Communist leader-turned- Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and Nagarjunsagar MLA Nomula Narasimhaiah passed away on Tuesday morning due to heart attack after suffering from post-Covid-19 complications.

He complained of chest pain at around 3 am and was immediately shifted from his Old MLA Quarters to at Apollo Hospitals, where he died while undergoing treatment at 5.30 am. He was 64 and is survived by a son and two daughters.

According to his family members, Narasimhaiah suffered from Covid-19 a couple of months ago and recovered after a month-long treatment. He, however, continued to suffer from post-Corona complications.

Born at Palem village of Nakrekal mandal of Nalgonda district, Narasimhaiah had been associated with Communist Party of India (Marxist) since his school days. He led the Student Federation of India in Osmania University, where he studied his masters in law. Readmore!

He later joined the CPI (M) and was elected president of Nakrekal block parishad. He got elected as an MLA twice on CPI (M) ticket from Nakrekal assembly constituency in 1999 and 2004 and was the party floor leader in the assembly in the combined Andhra Pradesh state.

In 2013, Narasimhaiah quit the CPI (M) as the latter opposed the separate Telangana formation. He joined the TRS and contested the assembly elections from Nagarjunasagar in 2014, but lost to Jana Reddy. In 2018, however, he won the seat with a margin of over 7,771 votes over Jana Reddy.
