The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Andhra Pradesh police are said to be contemplating moving a contempt petition before the state high court against Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
According to sources, the CID would complain to the court that Naidu had violated the high court directions not to make public appearances and speak to the media. However, Naidu not only waved at the party cadres outside the jail, but also had a brief chat with the media.
“What is more, Naidu’s convoy went in a procession from Rajahmundry to Vijayawada and at every village or town enroute, he waved at the crowds and greeted them. This is blatant violation of the court directions,” an official said.
However, the TDP people say Naidu did not make any public speech but only greeted the party workers with folded hands.
“Even with the media, he did not make any political comments or spoke about the case. All that he did was to thank the people who supported him,” a TDP leader said.
Profusely thanking the people from all across the world for expressing solidarity with him, Naidu said that in his 45-year-long political career he never committed any mistake nor allowed others to do so.
"The Telugu people have come onto the roads for 52 days to express their solidarity and perfomed special poojas when I was in trouble. I never, in my lifetime, forget the affection showed to me not only by the people in Andhra Pradesh and in the neighbouring Telnagana besides across the country and the globe," the former chief minister remarked.
Thanking all those politicians and leaders of different political parties who extended their cooperation and support to him, Mr Chandrababu said that the Jana Sena party has come out openly to extend its support to him.
"I thank the Jana Sena chief, Mr Pawan Kalyan, from the bottom of my heart and also to the CPI, BJP, BRS, the Congress and others," Mr Chandrababu said.
