At last, the contentious issue of cinema ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh is most likely to get resolved in a couple of days with chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy approving the recommendation of the high-level committee in this regard.
According to sources in the state secretariat, a big delegation of the Tollywood led by megastar Chiranjeevi will have a meeting with Jagan on February 10, where an announcement is likely to be made on the cinema tickets issue.
The delegation would comprise of representatives of all sections of the industry, including those from Telugu film chamber of commerce, producers’ council and distributors and exhibitors’ association.
The chief minister is learnt to have agreed to meet the delegation, following a meeting with state cinematography minister Perni Nani on Tuesday.
The issue of the theatres’ classification and the facilities to be made available to the audiences at the theatres were also discussed at the meeting.
The committee constituted by the chief minister on the cinema ticket pricing issue held several rounds of talks with the distributors and exhibitors in the last couple of months.
The committee finalised its reports and submitted the same to Perni Nani, who in turn took it to the chief minister.
“It is going to be a positive report, as it conceded most of the demands of the film industry. At the same time, it also made several recommendations on the management of theatres and the facilities to be provided to the audiences,” sources said.
With a series of big films is lined up for release in the next two months, it will be definitely a big bonanza for the film industry, sources added.
