Megastar Chiranjeevi has made comeback to films three years ago and before that, he stayed away from the acting world for over a decade.
In his long career, Chiranjeevi had delivered numerous blockbusters but the successes that he had seen post-2000s are very few.
Except “Indra”, he had not witnessed a blockbuster with a straight Telugu film in the last 17 years. This is quite a surprising fact.
He is now roaring to strike back with “Sye Raa”, which is a straight Telugu film.
“Indra” that got released in 2002 was a sensational industry hit. After that, he scored a massive hit with “Tagore” but which was a remake movie. Then he got another success with “Shankardada MBBS” which was again remade of “Munnabhai MBBS”.
The other straight movies that he did in the 2000s – Stalin, Andarivaadu and Jai Chiranjeeva, were either flops or average grossers.
He returned to an acting career after a decade long gap with a sensational blockbuster “Khaidi No 150” which was again a remake.
So, in the last 17 years, other than being “Indra” he had not witnessed success with a straight Telugu film. “Sye Raa” is going to set this trend again.
Chiranjeevi is so confident about this movie which is a dream project. The period drama is also carrying high expectations.
We have to wait and see whether Chiru would score a blockbuster with a straight subject again. Let’s wait for October 2nd.
