Chevireddy calls TDP MLAs as peons, triggers uproar!

Fresh from their resounding victory in the recent Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, the YSR Congress party MLAs seem to have decided to go make aggressive attacks on the Telugu Desam Party MLAs right from the day one of the assembly session.

On Thursday, a nasty comment made by YSRC MLA and whip Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy triggered wild uproar in the House.

He was attacking opposition leader and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for not accompanying newly-elected speaker Tammineni Sitaram to the Chair along with chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and others.

“Instead of accompanying the Speaker, Naidu sent his “bantrothu” (peon) to the chair,” Chevireddy said, referring to Atchen Naidu coming to the podium instead of Naidu. Readmore!

The TDP president and his party MLAs raised an objection to Chevireddy’s comments.

“I was not given any intimation about the election of the Speaker. Secondly, it is a practice for the pro-tem speaker to make a request to the leader of the Opposition to come to the chair. But I was not called and so, I didn’t come, but sent my deputy floor leader, How can Chevireddy call him a peon?” Naidu asked.

Atchen Naidu said if the TDP MLAs were peons of Naidu, then YSRC MLAs should also be peons of Jagan Mohan Reddy. He demanded that Chevireddy should tender an apology.

The Speaker said he would examine the records and remove Chevireddy’s comments.
