Case against YSRC MLA for violating lockdown!

The police in Nellore district on Saturday registered a case against YSR Congress party MLA from Kovuru and former minister Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy for violating the lockdown restrictions in his constituency imposed to prevent spread of Coronavirus disease.

Nellore has recorded the first Covid-19 positive case in the state and has so far reported as many as 48 positive cases. In view of the growing number of cases, the police have been strictly enforcing lockdown restrictions in the district.

However, Nallapureddy allegedly put up a big show in the name of distribution of essential commodities to 6,500 people at a school in Buchireddypalem village in Kovuru constituency.

The police raised an objection to it, as neither the MLA nor the YSRC party workers had followed the lockdown norms and ensured maintenance of social distance among the beneficiaries. Readmore!

The police brought it to the notice of district superintendent of police Bhaskar Bhushan who got angry and asked the local police to book a case against the MLA and seven of his followers.

Angered with this, Nallapureddy along with his followers staged a dharna in front of the Buchireddypalem police station. He demanded that the SP himself should come to the police station to personally arrest him.

The issue kicked up a controversy, as the MLA did not follow the social distance even before the police station while staging dharna.

The SP, however, did not come to the police station as demanded by Prasanna. He brought it to the notice of the higher ups.
