At last, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has given appointment to a delegation of Telugu film industry to discuss various issues confronting the industry.
Though the exact date of the meeting has not yet been scheduled, CMO sources said it could be in the first week of September, soon after Jagan returns from Idupulapaya, where he would pay homage to his father late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy on his death anniversary on September 2.
While megastar Chiranjeevi will lead the delegation, it will be interesting to see as to who will join him in the meeting. According to Tollywood sources, young heroes Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun have also evinced interest in being part of the delegation to discuss the Tollywood issues, especially the pricing of tickets in theatres and permission for screening of additional shows for big ticket films in the first week of their release.
Industry sources said the Tollywood biggies are of the view that it requires a lot of patience to apprise the chief minister of the issues confronting the film industry, since there is a general impression that Jagan is not so much concerned about the film industry.
In the past, a delegation led by Chiranjeevi met Jagan to discuss the problems of the Tollywood, but nothing has materialised from the meeting. This time, the meeting has to be far more serious, because it would be the big heroes who would be losing heavily if the issues of ticket pricing and additional shows were not resolved.
That is precisely why the young heroes, too, have responded positively for attending the meeting with Jagan. But the question is how many of these heroes would get the appointment of Jagan.
There are reports that the delegation should not have more than four members. It is learnt principal secretary to the chief minister had called up the film chamber and asked for a few names who would be part of the delegation.
Apart from heroes, Chiranjeevi would have to take representatives of distributors and exhibitors. So, it is doubtful there is any scope for more number of heroes in the delegation. Let us wait and watch.
