BRS playing YSR card to target Congress!

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had never lost an opportunity to attack former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Y S Rajasekhar Reddy when he was alive and even after that.

KCR and his party leaders were targeting YSR for strongly opposing the bifurcation of the state to form separate Telangana state when he was alive. They accused him several times of diverting Krishna waters to Rayalaseema through Pothireddypadu project.

The BRS leaders had never given credit to YSR for the free power supply to agriculture and instead, criticised him for not giving enough power to the farmers.

KCR still claims that it is only the formation of Telangana that the farmers have been getting round-the-clock power supply free of cost. Readmore!

But now with the Congress emerging a major threat to the BRS in the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana, KCR and his team have started invoking YSR’s name to target the Congress leaders.

During the discussion in the state assembly on Sunday, KCR said the Congress party had ignored the services rendered by YSR to the state.

After his death, the Congress harassed and tortured his son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and hounded him away from the party, he alleged.

“As a result, Jagan established his own party and recorded a resounding victory in Kadapa. Later, he swept the assembly elections in 2019 and came to power. The Congress has lost its address in AP,” he said.

KCR’s son and Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao also lavished praises on YSR and Jagan during his speech in the assembly.

He said YSR had introduced Arogya Sri scheme and it was still useful to lakhs of people in Telangana.

On Jagan, too, KTR said the Andhra chief minister had appreciated the initiatives taken by the Telangana government in dealing with the Disha rape case and mentioned them in the AP assembly.

Needless to say, the BRS would not hesitate to use the names of its past enemies to target the present political rivals, if it gives them political mileage!
