“Brochevarevarura” starring Sree Vishnu and Nivetha Thomas in the lead roles is written and directed by Vivek Athreya who earlier directed “Mental Madhilo”. The teaser was creative and artistic.
Let’s find out the film has fared up.
Story:
The film narrates the story of R3 batch – Rahul (Sree Vishnu), Rambo, Rocky (Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna) and their college friend Mithra (Nivetha Thomas).
The R3 gang kidnaps Mithra, when she feels suffocated with the attitude of her college principal who pressurizes her for studies. How their well-planned kidnap drama turns out to be dud is what the second half is all about.
On the other hand, there is a thread of Vishal (Satya Dev), a film director narrating a story to Shalini (Nivetha Pethuraj). How are these linked?
Artistes’ Performances:
Though Sree Vishnu doesn’t look like an intermediate student, he is convincing in later part of the movie. Both Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna have got good lines.
Nivetha Thomas as Mithra, a dance exponent and vivacious girl has given another good performance. Satya Dev and Nivetha Pethuraju have played guest roles. Bithiri Satti gets another bad role. Harsha Vardhan as police officer is funny.
Technical Excellence:
Vivek Sagar’s music is neat. ‘Vagaladi’ song is catchy. Cinematography is decent. The film has okay production values. Editing is neat.

Mixing a thread of an actor narrating a story to a heroine with another thread of kidnap drama has made this film different among the scores of movies based on the line of ‘kidnap attempt gone wrong’ we have seen.
From Ram Gopal Varma’s “Money” to recent “Dongata”, we have seen many films that focused on characters hatching a plan of kidnapping themselves to demand money from their loved ones.
The basic plot that director Vivek Athreya has chosen for “Brochevarevura” is quite routine but the structure and the screenplay has made all the difference to this.
The film begins with a writer narrating a story to a film actress. Then it cuts to Sree Vishnu and their gang. The fun proceedings in college begin. All four of them including heroine Nivetha are poor in studies.
The topper among them gets 5 marks out of 60. They are such bums. The three friends plan to help Mithra (Nivetha) out of her problem.
The first half focuses on these things with writer-actress thread intermittently cutting in which keeps us in the guessing game. The major twist happens in the interval making the first half largely a satisfying watch.
Vivek Athreya has narrated the movie in a slow pace and has taken lot of time to come into the groove post-interval. It is also hard to believe that a movie actress would simply develop love towards the wannabe director while narrating a story to her.
All in all, “Brochevarevura” is a pretty simple crime comedy that is peppered with interesting screenplay and offers some genuine laughs. In a nutshell, it makes decent watch this weekend.
