Box Office: Will 'Animal' Beat 'RRR'?

Multiple Indian films competed at the North American box office over the weekend. While the holdover "Animal" continued to rule the box office, Nani's "Hi Nanna" triumphed among the new releases.

Nithiin's "Extra" failed to take off. The film was a disaster.

Nani has a strong market presence in the United States. Despite mixed reviews and ordinary word-of-mouth, "Hi Nanna" was a huge success. During its four-day weekend, the film grossed $1.1 million.

#HiNanna: Wed $272,395; Thu $190,418; Fri $250,427; Sat $290,925 Sun: -150k (apprx) - Total Gross: $1.1 Million Readmore!

Nithin's "Extra" failed to gross even a modest $100k over the weekend. He hoped to gain overseas market and promoted the film aggressively but could not win their love with this film.

#ExtraOrdinaryMan: Thu $36,774; Fri $18,820; Sat $19,696; Sun: 10k (apprx) Total Gross: $85k

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal” gained another $2 million gross over the weekend. The film stands at $11 million. It has high chances of beating the total of Rajamouli’s “RRR” ($14 million).

A USA box office expert predicts the film might collect even $18 million.
