The much-anticipated sequel, Double iSmart, has made a strong impression at the box office, drawing a notable Rs 4.5 crore in net collections on its opening day across the two Telugu states. This surpasses the first-day collections of Mr. Bachchan by a significant margin.
The impressive opening for Ram Pothineni’s film is bolstered by its status as a sequel to the successful iSmart Shankar. Additionally, the collaboration between Ram Pothineni and director Puri Jagannadh generated considerable interest, contributing to the film’s strong initial performance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
In contrast, Mr. Bachchan managed to earn just over Rs 3 crore in net collections on its first day, falling short of Double iSmart.
Director Puri Jagannadh, seeking a comeback after the underwhelming Liger, had hoped that this film would resonate with the masses. However, finding a compelling script to captivate audiences remains a challenge.
