Even Naidu’s bitter critic like former Union minister and BJP Mahila Morcha national convenor Daggubati Purandeshwari came in support of the TDP government’s stand on Polavaram project.

“The Jagan government has committed a blunder by terminating the contract of the company executing the project and going in for reverse tenders. Such hasty decisions by the government will result in halt of investments into the state,” she said.

Purandeshwari said the Centre had never given its approval to the Jagan government to stall the Polavaram works.

“If Jagan thinks there were any irregularities, he can order an inquiry and take appropriate action. But stopping the works and going in for re-tenders is not correct,” she said.

Another BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao accused the Jagan government of acting with vengeance against the previous government, instead of taking practical decisions.

“What will happen to the farmers who had given away their lands to the capital, if it is shifted?” he asked.
