Former Supreme Court lawyer and judicial activist Prashant Bhushan has called for a thorough investigation into the allegations leveled against a sitting Supreme Court judge.
He stated that the serious charges of corruption require an independent investigation with the three retired judges of the Supreme Court.
In a letter written to Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made allegations of corruption against the senior sitting judge Justice NV Ramana.
He also accused him of influencing the Andhra Pradesh High Court benefiting the Telugu Desam party leader.
YS Jagan’s letter created a storm of discussion at the national level. Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai even conducted a prime time debate on India Today channel on this topic.
Prashant Bhushan tweeted, “When a CM makes serious charges of corruption against a senior judge slated to become the next CJI to the present CJI, it needs a quick, independent & Credible the investigation, by 3 retired judges of the SC. No point in saying that CM is corrupt or that he should not make this public.”
