AP made rapid strides in industrial sector: Jagan

Contrary to the criticism that there has been no industrial development in Andhra Pradesh in the last three years of the YSR Congress party regime, chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday claimed that as many as 98 mega industries were established in the state with an investment of Rs 39,350 crore, generating employment to around 60,541 people.

Jagan was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the first phase of the manufacturing plant of ATC Tyres Private Limited, promoted by Yokohama Group of Japan, Atchutapuram special economic zone in Anakapalli district.

He said Andhra Pradesh had made rapid stride in the industrial sector and achieved No.1 ranking in the country under Ease of Doing Business.

“In the last three years, under micro-small-medium enterprises (MSME) sector, 31,671 companies were established, creating jobs for over 1,98,521 people with an investment of Rs 8,285 crore,” he said. Readmore!

Jagan further said Andhra Pradesh would be getting 56 new mega industries at an investment of Rs 1,54,000 crore with an employment potential of 1,64,155 people in the next two years, with 75 percent of the jobs reserved only for locals.

In the last three years, there were massive investments from some big industrial players like Century Plywood and Shree Cement in the state. The prestigious Adani Data Centre too is also likely to be launched in Visakhapatnam next month, he said.

The ATC Tyres, which is being set up in two phases at an investment of Rs 2,200 crore, is expected to provide employment for nearly 2,000 people.

In the first phase, it has invested of Rs 1,250 crore, providing employment to around 1200 people. The second phase, which is expected to be completed by August 2023, will generate employment for more than 800 people. 

Jagan announced that the establishment of four new ports and nine fishing harbours would give a big push to the industrial sector in the state.

"For every 50 kilometers, there will be one port or harbour. This will increase exports by 10 percent from the state. We are also establishing three three industrial corridors, to generate huge employment,” he said.

The chief minister appealed to all top industrialists in India and the world to explore investment opportunities in the state and assured co-operation at all levels on part of the government.
