AP CID Cops arrest MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju

Rebel YSR Congress party MP from Narsapuram in West Godavari district Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju, who has been foul-mouthing the party leaders and making harsh comments against chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, has finally made to pay the penalty.

On Friday evening, the police of the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) made a lightning raid on the residence of Raghurama Krishnam Raju in Hyderabad and took him into custody.

A case was registered against him under Section 124-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which is a non-bailable offence, for allegedly making comments damaging the image of the state government.

Though the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cops, who have been giving him security cover, tried to stall his arrest stating that the CID cops should take permission from the CRPF higher officials, they gave up later after seeing the arrest warrant. Readmore!

Raju’s son Bharat, however, said the CID police had forcibly taken his father, who was in Hyderabad on Friday to celebrate his birthday.

He alleged that the police had not shown any arrest warrant to his family members and disclosed any reasons for the arrest.

“They didn’t even tell us where my father is being taken. How can the YSRC government behave so atrociously, just because it has power? How can the cops arrest an MP at a time when the Coronavirus pandemic is so severe? In fact, my father has not been keeping good health,” he said.

Bharat said he would move a house motion petition in the court against the illegal arrest of Raju.

“This is all a conspiracy. The police behaved like street rowdies,” he alleged.

Raju has been regularly addressing press conferences in the name of Racha Banda, where he is attacking the Jagan government, particularly making serious allegations against Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Y V Subba Reddy and V Vijay Sai Reddy.
