Another RS member upset with Jagan?

If the reports doing rounds in Andhra political circles are to be believed, yet another Rajya Sabha member is likely to call it quits for the YSR Congress party on the pretext that he is not being given due importance in the party.

According to these reports, senior Rajya Sabha member Golla Babu Rao is said to be extremely upset with the leadership of YSRCP, alleging that despite his experience, seniority, and loyalty, the party is failing to utilise his services meaningfully.

Sources said Babu Rao has repeatedly conveyed to the party leadership that he is willing to deploy his political experience fully to strengthen the organisation. However, his offers have reportedly been met with indifference.

The response from within party circles, sources claim, has been limited to assurances that his services would be “used when required,” without any concrete role or responsibility being assigned. Readmore!

This sustained neglect has reportedly left the Rajya Sabha MP deeply frustrated.

Party insiders say his displeasure has reached such an extent that he is considering quitting the party, if there is no respect for him in the party.

Babu Rao is believed to be particularly aggrieved that while state officials accord him protocol and respect befitting a Rajya Sabha member, the same recognition is missing within party platforms and internal decision-making forums.

He has reportedly been voicing his anguish to close associates, questioning why the party leadership does not acknowledge his presence or experience.

Sources indicate that his frustration has been steadily mounting and may soon culminate in a direct confrontation with party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Babu Rao is said to be preparing to place his grievances directly before the party chief, seeking clarity on his role and standing within the organisation.

In addition to seeking respect and recognition for himself, the MP is also reportedly keen on obtaining clarity regarding his son’s political future.

He is said to believe that certain forces within the party are deliberately attempting to marginalise him and distance him from the central leadership.

Babu Rao began his political career after leaving a Group-I government position and was first elected as an MLA from Payakaraopeta Assembly constituency in 2009 on a Congress ticket.

Following the formation of the YSR Congress Party, he aligned himself with Jagan Mohan Reddy and went on to win the 2012 by-election and the 2019 general election as a YSRCP candidate.

Though he did not name individuals, his comments were widely interpreted as being directed at regional coordinators and internal rival factions, sparking considerable unrest within the party.

Determined to resolve the issue, the Rajya Sabha MP is reportedly planning to take the matter directly to the party president, seeking dignity for himself and assurance regarding his son’s political future.

Whether the YSRCP leadership will address his concerns or allow the discontent to deepen remains to be seen.
