Another Big Wicket Down In Telangana TDP?

The exit of Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy has destabilised Telangana Telugu Desam Party to a great extent, though the party leaders are still putting up a brave front and saying they would bounce back in 2019 elections.

But the fact of the matter is that after Revanth joined the Congress party along with a few other leaders, many others have started quitting the Telangana TDP one after the other.

Instead of following Revanth into the Congress, they all joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi where they thought they have better prospects.

On Friday, another senior TDP leader and former minister Uma Madhava Reddy also gave a rude shock by hinting at quitting the party, if she got a better opportunity. Readmore!

She met TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and gave him a representation requesting him to allot her a residential plot according to the policy of giving house sites to the families of those who were killed in the hands of Naxalites.

Her husband, former home minister A Madhava Reddy, also fell victim to the Naxalite attack in 1999.

This has given rise to speculation that Uma, too, would join the TRS. Though she denied the talk, she did not rule out such a possibility.

“Nobody asked me to join the TRS. If somebody asks, I will consider it,” she said.

Asked whether she would contest as TRS candidate from Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency, she said: “I am ready but where will sitting MP Bura Narsaiah Goud go?”

Uma admitted there is no future for the TDP in Telangana.

“I know the TDP has no stakes in Telangana. Revanth has joined the Congress party after getting some concrete assurance from its high command. Had I got similar assurance, I would have gone to Delhi along with Revanth to join the Congress,” she commented.

So, who will remain in the Telagana TDP finally?
