Andhra Pradesh Gears Up For Free Vaccine

The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up for the free vaccine drive starting from May 1, all over the country. 

This would cover all citizen above the age of 18 years and would include those who have been getting the vaccine freely. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced this scheme, but had failed to provide the required number of doses of the vaccine. 

It was only after severe criticism by the people, the Central government had decided to provide some doses of vaccine free to the states. Readmore!

However, AP chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is marching ahead with the plan to give vaccine to all adults in the state.

The government had estimated that the adults in the age of 18 years and above would account for 2.04 crore.

Thus the state would require 4.08 crore doses as each person has to be given two doses.

The chief minister had already written letters to the Bharat Biotech and the Seerum Institute of India to supply 2 crore doses each to the state. 

Interestingly, 4 lakh doses have arrived on Sunday and the same were distributed to all the 13 districts. 

The chief minister is confident of vaccinating all the adults in the state, whether the Modi government supports or not.
