Andhra Assembly Sessions From Monday!

In a sudden decision, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced commencement of winter session of the state assembly with effect from Monday.

A notification to this effect was issued by Governor on Thursday. The session will commence at 9 am on November 30. Most likely, the session will be held for five days but may be extended depending on the situation.

The agenda would be finalised at the Business Advisory Committee meeting to be held after the conclusion of the first day of the session. Apparently, the Jagan government is holding the session to pass certain crucial bills in the House, which have been kept secret.

The state cabinet will be meeting at 11 on Friday to approve the bills to be tabled in the assembly, apart from discussing the strategy to be adopted in the House. The cabinet might also discuss the issue of holding local body elections, among other issues. Readmore!

As usual, the Telugu Desam Party strongly reacted to the sudden decision of the Jagan government to hold the assembly session. TDP spokesman P Ashok Babu said the government was planning to hold the assembly only to get some bills passed.

He said there was information that the session would be held without scope for any question hour.

“Even the media is being barred to cover the assembly session, which is highly autocratic,” he alleged.
