All surveys predict YSRC sweep LS polls

YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be racing ahead of ruling Telugu Desam Party headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh in terms of public support, if reports of various survey agencies are any indication.

According to the latest survey conducted by popular English channel Times Now in association with VMR Associates, the YSRC will get 22 out of 25 MP seats in Andhra Pradesh, while TDP will end with just three seats.

The Jana Sena Party of actor Pawan Kalyan, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party will draw a blank, at least in the Lok Sabha polls.

If one were to go by general calculation that each Lok Sabha seat comprises seven assembly segments on an average, the YSRC should get 154 assembly seats (22X7), while the TDP will end up with just 21 seats. Readmore!

This is based on the assumption that in simultaneous elections, the voting preferences of the people will be more or less same for both Lok Sabha and state assembly.

Even if one were to give a 10 per cent variation, the YSRC will be getting 135-138 assembly seats, and the TDP will get a maximum of 40 assembly seats.

The Times Now survey said the YSRC would get a voting share of 48.8 per cent, while the TDP will register 38.4 per cent vote share – a huge gap of 10 per cent. In 2014, the TDP-BJP combine got just two per cent more vote share than the YSRC.

The Congress, which is trying to retain its identity, may not get more than 2.2 per cent and the BJP will get at the most 5.8 per cent. Jana Sena and its allies will end with just 4.9 per cent.
