'Akhanda': 11 Days Real Collections

Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati’s “Akhanda” has done exceedingly well at the box office. The film’s run in some pockets has stunned everyone.

The massive run in Nizam, which has traditionally been considered weakest in Balakrishna’s career, came as a big surprise. Distributor Dil Raju made huge profits in this area. He bought the movie for Rs 10.50 Crore. He has already made about Rs 7 crore profits on that.

But Dil Raju will not be getting any profits from the Uttarandhra region. The region is one of the strongholds for Balakrishna, but the film is yet to recover the costs. He bought it for Rs 6 crore. The film did Rs 5.30 crore share in 11 days. In its full run, the film may not reach the break-even stage.

‘Akhanda’ also brought good profits to the distributors in Ceded and the USA. Balakrishna’s movies generally run to packed houses in Ceded. The USA run is a big surprise. Readmore!

In coastal Andhra, none of the districts yet broke even. This is the real picture of the ‘Akhanda’ collections.

UA - 5.30 Cr (6 cr)
Guntur - 4.24cr (5.40cr)
East - 3.52 cr (4 cr)
West - 2.94 Cr (3.50 cr)
Krishna - 3.20 Cr (3.80cr)
Nellore - 2.25 Cr (1.80 cr)
Nizam - 17.25 (10.50)
Ceded - 12.40 (11)

The amount in brackets above is the price the distributor paid for the rights.

It should be underlined that the film has done stunningly well in Overseas and Naizam for 'known reasons' despite the very weak hold of Balakrishna's films in those places.

The film failed to make breakeven only in Coastal Andhra though did well in Ceded. If the ticket prices in AP are shown as a problem, then how could it do well in the Ceded region is the question.
