After Singareni, Kavitha eyes HCA?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha is becoming more and more active in the party, after her father declared that he would continue to be the chief minister for another 10 years.

Kavitha, who had earlier opted out of the trade union activity in Singareni Collieries resumed her role as the honorary president of the coal workers’ union recently again.

She has also revived her Telangana Jagruthi activities and has been getting big publicity in the media and social media by appointing a team of PR personnel.

Apparently, there have been a large number of complaints against HCA particularly in the selection of team members and also with regard to misappropriation of funds.

The TRS government is said to be contemplating taking over of the association activities in the best interest of the players.

So, KCR is learnt to have asked Kavitha to focus on HCA activities. In the recent past, she held a few meetings with the people concerned with the association and discussed the steps on how to take control of the association activities.

She also had a meeting with top BCCI officials on how to overhaul the HCA and win the confidence of majority of clubs, so that she can take over as the HCA president in the next elections.

“Right now, she is trying to understand how people like Azharuddin dominate the clubs and win their votes. Once she gains grip over the situation, it will not be difficult for her to capture the association,” sources close to her said.
