Senior IPS officer A B Venkateswara Rao issued legal notice to YSR Congress MP V Vijayasai Reddy and Sakshi media group.
He sued the MP and the media house for Rs 1 crore damage for damaging his reputation.
Venkateswara Rao is on suspension from 2019 on charges of corruption and irregularities in favouring a contract to buy some intelligence devices.
The government headed by Jagan Mohan Reddy found that Venkateswara Rao had favoured his son in procuring the intelligence devices in favour of his son.
While the issue is in the court, Venkateswara Rao made allegations before the media against the state government.
The government then ordered inquiry into the violation of service rules and had even appointed an inquiry commission.
While things stood there, the senior police officer alleged that the MP had made baseless allegations against him causing damage to his reputation.
He further said that the Sakshi media group had carried the allegations against him prominently further damaging his reputation.
He sued the MP and the media house for Rs 1 crore and said he would file the defamation case.
The senior IPS officer is in the eye of the storm for his alleged role in engineering defection of 23 MLAs from the YSR Congress to the TDP during 2016-18.
