The Visakhapatnam, which is tipped for the executive capital of the state, is in celebration mood.
The port city is getting ready for the Visakha Utav and chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is scheduled inaugurate the festival on December 28.
The government, ahead of the cabinet meeting scheduled for December 27 and the chief minister’s visit on December 28, issued seven GOs on Thursday granting the releasing Rs 394.50 crore to various development works in Visakhapatnam.
The works included Rs 22.50 crore for bio-mining process plant at Kapuluppada, Rs 37 crore for planetarium on Kailasagiri, Rs 80 crore for multi-level car parking and commercial complex at Siripuram Junction, Rs 88 crore for natural history park, museum and research centre, Rs 90 crore for road at Chukkavanipalem, Rs 40 crore for integrated underground parking, tourism complex and integrated museum on beach road and Rs 75 crore for new road connecting Beach Road with IT SEZ area.
While it is a formality that the government releases funds to a particular place or district before the chief minister’s visit, the release of this huge amount to Visakhapatnam is seen as added advantage to this port city to prepare it to be the executive capital of the state.
The State government had issued 30 GOs granting administrative sanction for Rs 1500 crore to Kadapa district, before the chief minister started his three-day tour in the district this week.
